Malaysia’s No. 1 K-League Corgi debuts on the Korean stage at the FA Cup

Corgi (24), the first Malaysian player in the professional football K-League, made his debut on the Korean stage.

K League 2 (Part 2) Chungbuk Cheongju FC won 3-0 in a home game against Seoul Jungnang Football Club in the second round of the 2023 Hana One Q FA Cup held at Cheongju Stadium on the 29th.

Corgi, who started, recorded two threatening shots on target in the first half. He also showed confidence, such as handling a free kick opportunity near the penalty box himself.

Corgi finished his debut game by digesting 60 minutes안전놀이터, shaking the opponent’s defense at high speed in the second half.

Corgi, who joined Chungbuk Cheongju FC this season, is evaluated as a striker with fast speed and individual skills. He has represented Malaysia U-16, U-19, and U-23, and has scored two goals in eight games for the adult national team. Corgi recorded 11 points and 5 assists in 63 games in his home country’s league and cup competitions.

Corgi said, “I sincerely thank the Korean and Malaysian fans for their support,” and “Thanks to the coach, coaching staff, and colleagues, I had a good debut.”

Director Choi Yoon-gyeom said, “The Corgi succeeded in losing weight on its own to become competitive, and the effort to adapt to Korean football stood out, giving it a chance to participate.” I look forward to it,” he said.
