Ingram is in no rush to sign a contract extension.
Times-Picayune reporter Christian Clark recently reported on the contract extension of New Orleans Pelicans ace Brandon Ingram. Reporter Clark reported that Ingram will talk with New Orleans about the size of the contract until next year’s off-season.
If Ingram signs a contract extension this offseason, he could receive up to three years and $147 million. However, he is currently under contract until the 2024-2025 season. In other words, if the year goes by, Ingram can sign a larger contract extension.
However, negative voices regarding Ingram’s contract also emerged. There is a question as to whether he has achieved enough results to receive a high salary.먹튀검증
Ingram averaged 24.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists last season. His field goal and 3-point success rates also reached 48.4% and 39.0%, respectively. However, he only appeared in 45 games. An injury to his big toe held him back.
Ingram’s injury wasn’t just a problem last season. He has never played more than 63 games in a single season since wearing a New Orleans uniform. There is bound to be a question mark over his durability.
To make matters worse, Zion Williams, who formed a one-two punch with Ingram, is also the league’s leading injury pro. Zion averaged 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists last season, but only played in 29 games at the beginning of the season.
Ingram’s performance next season cannot be guaranteed. He represented the United States at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup this summer. Ingram was named to the starting lineup with much anticipation. But he rarely proved his worth. In the end, the U.S. coaching staff put Ingram on the bench.
Ingram receives an annual salary of $34 million this season and $36 million next season. He is a player who earns his salary well when he is on the court. However, he also spends a lot of time not on the court. Ingram’s performance next season is expected to have a huge impact on the size of his extension contract.
